Abstract

China is the second largest economy, has the highest total trade and holds the largest foreign reserves of the world. Despite these impressive numbers, it has faced a number of problems in attempting to bring its economy closer to the liberal practices of the advanced countries. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the main challenges currently faced by the Chinese economy to continue its growth, as well as point out some of the global consequences of China’s recent shift in its currency policies. Still, we intend to highlight the impact of the Chinese adjustment to Brazil and offer some recommendations of public policies aimed at preparing the country for these changes.
