Abstract
Dos anos 1980 até o presente, transformações na estrutura industrial dos estados que constituem a região Centro-Oeste impulsionaram o crescimento industrial nesse espaço regional. Tudo isso foi fruto de uma estratégia de integração desse espaço regional ao mercado nacional e, a partir dos anos 1990, aos mercados internacionais. Excedente de matéria-prima, proximidade com mercados de consumo, incentivos e benefícios fiscais, financiamentos públicos e privados, mão de obra em abundância tiveram um papel importante para o incremento do produto industrial do Centro-Oeste. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste trabalho é fazer uma descrição da estrutura industrial da região Centro-Oeste naquilo que se refere aos efeitos dos componentes estrutural e diferencial para 2007 a 2014. Para tanto, os trabalhos de Rodrigo Simões, João Cerejeira e António de Matos destacam que as regiões apresentam diferenças setoriais em seus ritmos de crescimento industrial. Assim sendo, este trabalho testará, empiricamente, essa evidência para o caso dos estados do
Centro-Oeste com o fito de verificar se há validade nessa assertiva. Grosso modo, observa-se que os
setores industriais do Mato Grosso do Sul contribuíram positivamente para o seu crescimento industrial,
pois apresentaram uma variação líquida total (VLT) positiva, seja para o componente estrutural ou para
o diferencial. Em seguida, vieram os setores industriais do estado do Mato Grosso, que contribuíram
positivamente para o crescimento industrial estadual, uma vez que a VLT foi positiva, porém com o
componente estrutural pesando positivamente e o componente diferencial, negativamente. No caso
do estado de Goiás, observa-se que os setores industriais que mais contribuíram positivamente para
o crescimento industrial apresentaram uma VLT positiva, porém com os componentes estrutural e diferencial negativos. E, por fim, os setores industriais do Distrito Federal, que apresentaram uma VLT positiva, isto é, que contribuíram, favoravelmente, para o crescimento industrial do estado, no período de 2007 a 2014, foram aqueles relacionados com o componente estrutural, ao passo que o componente diferencial não teve forças para impulsionar o produto industrial do Distrito Federal acima da média nacional.

From the 1980s to the present, transformations in the industrial structure of the states that make up the Midwest region drove industrial growth in this regional space. All of this was the result of a strategy to integrate this regional space into the national market and, from the 1990s, to international markets. Excess of raw material, proximity to consumer markets, tax incentives and benefits, public and private financing, labor in abundance, all of this played an important role in the increase of the industrial product of the Midwest. In this sense, the objective of this work is to describe the industrial structure of the Midwest region in what concerns the effects of the structural and differential components for the years 2007 to 2014. Therefore, the works of Rodrigo Simões, João Cerejeira and António de Matos highlight that the regions present sectorial differences in their industrial growth rates. Therefore, this paper will empirically test this evidence for the case of the
states of the Midwest with the aim of verifying whether there is validity in this assertion. Roughly speaking, it is observed that the industrial sectors of Mato Grosso do Sul contributed positively to its industrial growth, as they presented a positive total net variation both for the structural component, as well as for the differential. Then came the industrial sectors of the state of Mato Grosso that contributed positively to the state’s industrial growth, since the total net variation was positive, but with the structural component weighing positively and the differential component negatively. In the case of the state of Goiás, it can be seen that the industrial sectors that most contributed positively to industrial growth presented a positive total net variation, however, with the negative structural and differential components. And, finally, the industrial sectors of the Federal District that
presented a positive total net variation , that is, that contributed, favorably, to the industrial growth of the state, in the period from 2007 to 2014, were those related to the structural component, whereas, the differential component did not have the strength to boost the industrial product of the Federal District above the national average.
