Abstract

The study aims to analyze the outline strategies of insertion in Global Value Chains (GVC), drawn from the Vietnam experience. From their intrinsic advantages such as proximity to the Chinese market and the availability of low cost skilled labor, the country managed to develop other competitive advantages through economic and institutional reforms that ensured their successful integration into the electronics supply chain. The case of Vietnam illustrates the need for countries like Brazil, which have a diversified economy, but with higher labor costs, develop competitive advantage through investment in infrastructure and trade openness in order to seize the opportunities of growth in an increasingly integrated and interdependent world.
