Abstract
O artigo debate oportunidades de cooperação entre Brasil e China para o desenvolvimento de tecnologias sustentáveis, a partir do diagnóstico das potencialidades e desafios enfrentados por cada país nos setores de energia e transportes. Toma-se por hipótese a necessidade cada vez mais premente de as economias emergentes adotarem padrões de desenvolvimento menos intensivos em dispêndio energético. São identificadas algumas áreas em que Brasil e China possuem diferenciais tecnológicos que poderiam ser explorados numa parceria bilateral, a exemplo da construção de hidrelétricas e da produção em massa de veículos automotores híbridos.

The study discusses opportunities for cooperation between Brazil and China for the development of sustainable technologies, drawing from the diagnosis of the strengths and challenges faced by each country in energy and transport sectors. The hypothesis is the increasingly urgent need for emerging economies to adopt development standards less intensive in energy expenditure. It identifies some areas in which Brazil and China have technological advantages that could be exploited in a bilateral partnership, such as the construction of dams and mass production of hybrid automobile.
