Abstract
Neste trabalho analisamos as flutuações do emprego em diversos estados brasileiros frente ao emprego nacional. Nosso objetivo é verificar se é possível estabelecer uma relação de longo prazo entre o emprego estadual e o emprego nacional [Blanchard e Katz, 1992; Martin, 1997]. Foram utilizadas duas técnicas para esse fim. A primeira, bastante comum na literatura específica, correspondeu à análise de co-integração, segundo a metodologia de Engle-Granger (1987). A segunda, ainda pouco conhecida, partiu do modelo de correção de erros irrestrito, conforme apresentado em Pesaran et alii (1996). Os resultados corroboram a hipótese de que as flutuações do emprego na maioria dos estados seguem um trajetória comum em relação ao emprego nacional, mas com diferenciais permanentes no longo prazo.

In this paper we analyze the fluctuation of the employment of several Brazilian regions in relation to the national employment. Our objective is to verify if it is possible to establish a long-run relationship between the regional employment and the national employment [Blanchard and Katz, 1992; Martin, 1997]. Twotechniques were used. The first, quite common in the specific literature, is the cointegration analysis, according to the methodology of Engle-Granger (1987). The second is the Unrestricted Error Correction Model, as presented in Pesaran et alii (1996). The results corroborate the hypothesis that the fluctuation of the employment in most of the regions follow a common trajectory in relation to the national employment, but with permanent differential in the long-run.
