Abstract
Este texto visa informar o leitor sobre a literatura empírica referente ao salário mínimo e seus efeitos sobre o mercado de trabalho, distribuição de renda e pobreza, com a intenção de motivar novas pesquisas nessa área. Além de uma descrição sucinta do conteúdo dos trabalhos publicados, procuramos identificar questões que se acredita já resolvidas e levantar outras que são pouco ou não são abordadas.

This paper aims to shed some lights on the empirical literature about the effects of minimum wage on Brazilian labor market and income distribution. In addition to point to stylized facts we also tried to motivate new research lines in this area. We overview the contents of each contribution describing which questions are answered and which are still with no satisfactory answer.
