Social protection profile: Maldives

Abstract

Since 2018, the International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) has partnered with the UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia and its respective Country Offices to develop a series of comparative papers on social protection (SP) in the region, covering: social expenditure, legal frameworks, design of flagship national non-contributory SP programmes— including their child- and gender-sensitive features—the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 crisis and the SP responses deployed, and findings from quasi-experimental impact evaluations. All of the studies listed, except the last one, were published in 2020. This One Pager highlights cross-cutting findings for Maldives.

Desde 2018, o Centro Internacional de Políticas para o Crescimento Inclusivo (IPC-IG) mantém uma parceria com o Escritório Regional da UNICEF no Sul da Ásia e seus respectivos Escritórios Nacionais para desenvolver uma série de documentos comparativos sobre proteção social (PS) na região, abrangendo gastos públicos, marcos legais , desenhos dos principais programas nacionais não-contributivos de PS – incluindo suas características específicas referentes à infância e ao gênero – e uma revisão de literatura dos impactos socioeconômicos da crise do COVID-19 e as respostas de PS implementadas. Este One Pager destaca as principais constatações relevantes para as Maldivas.
