Abstract

This text contains an estimate for the Brazilian housing deficit, divided into different income brackets of the population. The information used was that collected by National Survey per Household Sample (PNAD) in 1995, and it is classified by states of Federation. The results show that the housing deficit is distributed in a regressive fashion affecting more hardly both the poorest people and the poorest regions of Brazil.
