Abstract

This article analyzes the trajectory of FDI flows from South Korea to Brazil in the period 2003-2015, using data provided by the consolidated FDI Markets platform based on the announcements of company projects. Analysis of the data reveals that the rapid growth trajectory of South Korean investments in the country was reversed as of 2011, reflecting the slowdown in the growth of the Brazilian economy and the worsening of uncertainties regarding the solidity of the country’s fiscal fundamentals. Nevertheless, the study also highlights the high potential for productive complementarity between the two economies, signaling the possibility of better utilization of trade and investment opportunities through closer bilateral relations.
