Abstract

The objective of this chapter is to present how environmental inspection and the prevention and combat of forest fires led by Ibama were institutionalized as concrete public policies. This concern was broken down into some reflections: i) the evolution of the municipality, in the sense of using technical information and relying on information technology in its decision-making processes on environmental inspection and the prevention and combat of forest fires; ii) the main lessons learned on these topics; and iii) how much these processes are reflected in the municipality’s budget planning and execution.
