Abstract
O investimento em educação ganha centralidade nos debates acadêmicos pela busca de melhores resultados no Brasil. Tendo em vista a representatividade dos salários no gasto total, a discussão sobre a relação entre estes e a qualidade da educação prestada torna-se premente. Assim, este artigo analisa a relação entre a remuneração dos docentes municipais e os indicadores educacionais de fluxo e desempenho acadêmico. Para isto, empregam-se diferentes metodologias visando captar o efeito médio e sobre os quantis de cada indicador. Os resultados apontam para uma correlação predominantemente negativa entre o valor do salário dos docentes e os indicadores educacionais. Atribui-se isso à competição por recursos educacionais e à inadequação da estrutura de incentivos inerentes à política salarial dessa categoria.

The investment in education gains centrality in the academic debates for the search of better results in Brazil. In view of the representativeness of salaries in total expenditure, the discussion about the relationship between salaries and the quality of the education provided becomes urgent. Thus, the present study seeks to analyze the relationship between the remuneration of municipal teachers and educational indicators of flow and academic performance. For this, different methodologies are used to capture the mean effect and the quantiles of each indicator. The results point to a predominantly negative correlation between the value of teachers’ salaries and educational indicators. This is attributed to the competition for educational resources and the inadequacy of the incentive structure inherent in the salary policy of this category.
