Abstract
O objetivo deste texto é propor uma reflexão sobre a possibilidade de se traçar uma estratégia de políticas públicas para as atividades de serviços, tendo em vista a crescente importância destas na definição do nível e composição da ocupação na economia mundial e brasileira. Este fato faz com que a literatura econômica nas últimas décadas sinalize uma mudança no tratamento dos Serviços, como um tema a ser investigado e os formuladores de política (policy markers) começam a se inquietar com o peso crescente destas atividades na sua interface com a indústria no fomento do progresso e na criação da riqueza social.

The main objective of this text is to propose a reflection over the possibility to indicate a strategy of Public Politics for the service activities, keeping in mind their increasing importance in the definition of the level and composition of the ocupations for the Brazilian and world economy. As the process of late industrializations has taken place together with the utilization of labor saving technologies, the long run growing of the economy has been sustained by the increasing participation of the services, creating low qualified jobs. The microeletronic revolution enhanced the service activities as the center of technological innovations. Therefore, the politics formulators must develop a great knowlegde of the sector in order to propose what to do and where to go and then consolidate the process of social and economic development.
