Abstract

We point a convergence on the debates about aging and disability as with the population aging most of the disabled persons are found among the elder. We show how the emergence of the school known as social model of disability changes the way of understanding disability as it transfers, from the individual to society, the responsibility for the disadvantages related to disability. The social model of disability is an extensive debate over social justice and welfare policies in which the medical way of explaining exclusion is no longer considered sufficient.
