Abstract

Bioinputs currently stand out as one of the promising technological strategies aimed at promoting the sustainability of agri-food systems in the world. Brazil has great potential for the development of these inputs, however, several obstacles still hinder its expansion. This article aimed to discuss two of the main challenges that limit the production of bioinputs in the country: regulatory issues and regional inequalities in the distribution of production units. The survey carried out showed that there is a significant diversity of registered products. However, the number of registrations is still very small when compared to conventional products. We observed a geographic concentration of these units in the Southeast and South of the country, indicating regional imbalances that may limit access to these products. This shows that actions are necessary that range from improving the registration system to integrated public policies to support technological innovation and encourage an efficient distribution of resources and products.
